Linz is accessible from several major airports. The recommended route is via Vienna International Airport (VIE), but alternative airports are also available depending on your location and flight availability.

Munich Airport (MUC) — approx. 275 km to Linz (3 hours by train or car)
Linz Airport (LNZ) — approx. 14 km to Linz city center (20 minutes by car)
Salzburg Airport (SZG) — approx. 135 km to Linz (1.5 hours by train or car)
Prague Airport (PRG) — approx. 220 km to Linz (3.5 hours by car, longer by train)
Austria's national railway operator ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) offers regular train services to Linz from all major cities:
Vienna Airport (VIE) to Linz — Direct Railjet trains every hour (~2 hours travel time)
Vienna Central Station (Wien Hbf) to Linz — Frequent Railjet and Intercity trains (~1 hour 15 minutes)
Munich to Linz — Direct and connecting services (~3 hours)
Salzburg to Linz — Direct trains (~1.5 hours)
Prague to Linz — Limited direct trains, longer journey (~4 hours)
In order to save some money, students under <26 years old can purchase the ÖBB Vorteilscard. a discount card granting holders a 50% discount on all train tickets for 1 year. Since it only costs ~€20, you get your money's worth within a single trip! The discount is applied automatically in the ÖBB App.
